(NASHVILLE) – Today Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) announced over $1.2 million in state grants for school districts he represents to improve school safety and security. These grants include $357,888 in Safe School grants, which are recurring funds and $878,822 in School Safety and Security grants, which are one-time funds. The General Assembly included $35 million in the 2018/2019 state budget for school safety, which Roberts supported, following recommendations from Governor Haslam’s School Safety Working Group.

NASHVILLE, (February 5, 2018) – State Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) and Senate Minority Leader Lee Harris (D-Memphis) today announced bipartisan legislation that would make it cheaper for gun owners to safely store their firearms.  Senate Bill 2476 would exempt the purchase of gun safes from the state’s sales tax.

NASHVILLE, (January 10, 2018) – State Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) has been appointed Chairman of the Senate Calendar Committee.  The announcement was made yesterday by Lt. Governor Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge), as the 110^th General Assembly reconvened for the 2018 legislative session. The Calendar Committee is responsible for scheduling bills and resolutions for consideration by the State Senate.
