NASHVILLE (September 14, 2020) - Tennessee Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield), Chairman of the Senate Government Operations Committee, was recently elected vice chair of the Fiscal Affairs and Government Operations Committee of the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC).

Policy and program issues recently addressed by the committee include examining the fiscal impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, new and expanded revenue streams, trade in the SLC region amid the COVID-19 pandemic and sports betting policies in Southern states.

"The SLC has played a vital role in my growth as a legislator. It's an honor to be elected by legislators of other states to serve as their vice chair of this important committee," said Senator Roberts. "The Fiscal Affairs and Government Operations Committee provides critical and timely information to policymakers as they contemplate legislative matters."

The mission of the SLC is to promote and strengthen intergovernmental cooperation among its 15 member states. As vice chair of the Fiscal Affairs & Government Operations Committee, which comprises members from each of the 15 states of the SLC, Senator Roberts will help guide the committee's policy focus and projects, including programming for the 75th SLC annual meeting, marking the organization's 75th anniversary, July 10 - 14, 2021, in Nashville, Tennessee.
